On the second day of Raya this year, I took my nephews (Akram, Azim and Afiq) “beraya”. We visited the Panchang family (rumah Mak Ngah Itam), then Kg Semin family (rumah Wan Aji) and then to Mak Long Siah’s house at Kg Pengkalan Pauh.
Mak Long Siah took the time to tell us stories about our ancestors. I am putting it down here for future references.
It started with Fatimah Binti Din. Fatimah married a guy named Saad. Together they had three children. One of them was Jariah. Jariah was my late Moyang. She later married to Salleh Bin Saie. Together they had seven children; six daughters and one son.

Jariah was blessed with good health and long life. She had lived past 100 years old. My younger brother (Eja), was her 100th cicit when he was born. I remember she used to called my bother “Mat Saie” (his name is Azraie).
Jariah was “garang”. That’s how I remember her. Maybe because she was already very old at that time, and I was quite naughty too. She likes to “makan sirih” using her “gobek”. There’s one time she came to our house, and she asked me to get some daun sirih for her. I was around 5 or 6 years old. Then aku pun laju je pergi kat tepi rumah nak petik “daun sirih”. Sekali kena marah weh. “Tu daun kaduk, bukan nya daun sirih!” Hahaha. Mana lah aku tau beza daun kaduk dengan daun sirih kan. Nampak sama je. Actually, now that I am older, still I don’t think I can differentiate between the two.
Jariah passed away at my Mak Long Siah’s house, in Kg Pengkalan Pauh. She died of old age.
